In this demonstration, Paul McMillan of Weld United performs gas metal arc welding (GMAW/MIG) on steel. The complete welding process is captured from multiple angles using the MeltView® APEX3 and PROWatch cameras.
The video in the bottom right corner shows the weld pool, recorded by the MeltView® APEX3 camera (visible in the top right video) and illuminated by the RAD8 system (visible in the top left video). Three additional overview PROWatch cameras provide the remaining video feeds, offering various perspectives of the welding process.
Our third-generation MeltView® APEX welding camera is a one-of-a-kind educational tool for safe and effective demonstration of arc welding. Offered in either color or monochrome imaging, the APEX3 offers a lightweight camera than can be easily mounted to the torch or bench and provide clear imaging of the weld (1920 x 1080). The APEX3 is offered in a kit specifically made for welding instructors where students can observe welding in real-time.
The RAD8 is our high power continuous LED illuminating system for capturing crisp, clear images of the puddle without the need for lasers. When compared to laser-based illumination systems in terms of image quality, safety, and price, the RAD8 is a clear winner. The illumination system can be used with our MeltView® HDR camera line as well as high speed cameras.
The PROWatch is an in-process inspection camera to monitor industrial processes. This camera does not use a computer and is perfect for applications where the operator needs to observe an otherwise inaccessible or dangerous area. The camera can be used for up close monitoring and alignment or wide angle cell monitoring.
